UK's special relationship with US not constrained by EU membership, says Cameron

Britain's special relationship with the US has never been constrained by the UK's membership of the European Union, David Cameron has said.

The Prime Minister was speaking after talks in 10 Downing Street with US president Barack Obama, who used a visit to the UK to speak out about his preference for continued British membership of the EU after the June 23 referendum.

In a clear reference to the president's warnings against Brexit, Mr Cameron said Mr Obama was "a very good friend" of the UK who could be relied upon for "sage advice".
