A rescued bear who spent years at a cruel bile farm has been filmed happily splashing around in his new pool.

Tuffy had been subjected to the torture of having his bile extracted for years.

He was rescued in September by Animal Asia and taken to their Tam Dao centre in Vietnam.

Vets found that his gall bladder was so damaged it had to be removed, and he'd been living with painful gallstones for years.

He also had fractured teeth and cracked paws after being forced to live in a cage all day, reports the Daily Telegraph.

However, Tuffy has now been filmed in heartwarming scenes splashing around in his new pool.

And the rescue centre said he loves being outdoors so much, he refused to go inside to sleep that night.

According to 6ABC, Animals Asia Bear Manager Louise Ellis said on the charity group's website: "Coming from years of little or no water, for Tuffy this must feel like a true oasis after being parched and in pain for so long."

The site adds that bear bile has long been used in Asia to treat various health problems, despite the fact there is no real evidence of its effectiveness, and it is excruciatingly painful for bears.
