Train collides with abandoned car in Staffordshire

A quick-witted train driver managed to slow a train down after spotting a car abandoned across the tracks – but still ploughed into it at over 70mph.

Jonathan Mather drove and left his car across train lines at Clay Mills Crossing in Staffordshire, putting the vehicle right in the path of any approaching locomotive.
