Cliff Richard is putting his Portuguese vineyard and winery on the market, with an asking price of €9.5 million.

Adega do Cantor - which translates as Winery of the Singer - is being sold together with neighbouring property Quinta do Miradouro. It also produces wines from Sir Cliff's Quinta do Moinho estate and Vale do Sobreiro.

Sir Cliff, 75, has been producing wine, mainly under the Vida and Onda Nova name, for 15 years, with the help of neighbours Nigel and Lesley Birch. The wines are available in the UK through Wells Wines.

"Creating and establishing the winery has been a truly exhilarating and rewarding experience. It has been hard work but we are immensely proud of what has been achieved here," he tells the Daily Mail.

"However, reluctant as we are, my business partner and I believe it is time to slow down the treadmill, and hand over the 'dream' to someone who can dedicate more time to this wonderful venture than we can.'"

The main house has four double bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large lounge/dining room and a fully fitted kitchen with breakfast area. There's full central heating with log burning fire, and outside there's a landscaped garden, private pool and barbecue with entertaining area.

The second property has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an open-plan living/kitchen/dining room, all opening onto a terrace and garden with private pool.

This house, too, has full central heating and a log burning fire, and there's is a tennis court offering 'spectacular' views over the vineyards down to the coast.

The winery is open to the public, with regular guided tours - and Sir Cliff has been very much hands-on.

"Sir Cliff has known and loved the Algarve for over 40 years. His idea to plant a vineyard at his property Quinta do Moinho provided the genesis point for the Vida Nova range of wines," the winery website explains.

"Sir Cliff is very much involved in producing the wine. When in Portugal he is often seen getting his hands dirty in the vineyard, or indeed his feet dirty in the winery."
