British nudist tourists wanted in France

British nudists are being invited to holiday in France.

Tourism chiefs have officially invited naturists to visit the South of France for an in-the-buff holiday.

According to The Times, Atout France, the French tourist board, is campaigning to promote naturist holidays, with one of the key targets being Britain.

Officials have created an English language page on the board's website to advertise naturist resorts and campsites with the headline: Feeling Free.

The website reads: "For the naturist, France offers the chance to enjoy a free lifestyle in any environment you wish.

"By the sea, in the country, under canvas or staying in accommodation, you'll have the freedom to choose just how you want to spend your holiday."

The page offers readers information about the best naturist places to stay in France.

It also includes a questionnaire to "find out whether naturism is in your nature" and an app to help tourists find the nearest nudie beach.

The number of people taking naturist holidays in France has doubled over the last decade and is estimated to be around four million a year, reports the Evening Standard.​

The paper adds that there are 155 campsites, 73 villages and 35 bed and breakfasts catering for naked tourists.

Yves Leclerc, the vice chairman of the French Federation of Naturism wanted to make it clear that he believes there is a difference between nudists and naturists, however.

He said naturists were "ecologically-minded folk" who preferred family breaks in their birthday suits, while nudists just stripped off to avoid tan lines and don't pick up litter.
