Lydia Lucy and Cody Frost look to shake off illness ahead of The Voice

The Voice contestants Lydia Lucy and Cody Frost are unwell, but both are determined to perform on Saturday's final live show of the series.

"I'm very excited about the final, but unfortunately, I haven't been feeling too well over the last couple of days," Essex's Lucy told the Press Association.

The 22-year-old cancelled a performance at G-A-Y nightclub which was originally scheduled for Friday night.

"Hopefully, I'll feel better on Saturday, but I was really looking forward to G-A-Y. It's always an amazing gig and I'm gutted.

"I need to save all my energy because I've been feeling a little bit weak."

Lancastrian Frost, who coughed several times during her interview, said she was "really ill".

"I've got some sort of, don't know what it is yet," she admitted.

However, the Burnley-raised singer has one less worry because she is familiar with the song she has rehearsed.

In the final, team Boy George's Frost and will.i.am's Lucy will battle for The Voice crown alongside former Liberty X pop star Kevin Simm and Cumbrian soloist Jolan.

The two men are mentored by Ricky Wilson.

Paloma Faith will be the lone judge with no acts in the final.

Talking about the song she hopes will impress the voting public, Lucy spoke with warmth about her coach.

"Will actually suggested this song for me and then I put my spin on it. It was really nice to have that input.

"My dream is to work with Will. I've loved spending time with him and getting to know him as a person. I feel like in the future we could work really well together."

Lucy previously attempted to find music stardom on Simon Cowell's The X Factor.

She took part in the 2013 series when the ITV hit premiered Bootcamp elimination process, the six chair challenge.

One of the first victims of the twist on musical chairs, Lucy lost her seat and missed out on a place in the Judges' Houses round.

"I have a very exciting future ahead of me," Lucy said. "There's a few things going on at the moment whether I win or lose The Voice."

She added: I'm just very grateful to the public for backing me."

Although Frost, 18, has lost her bookies' favourite status to Simm, 35, she is not phased.

"It would mean a lot to win because I'd be able to show to other people who are alternative like me that we are worth something just as much as everybody else even though a lot of us got bullied, or whatever, just for expressing ourselves."

Frost is upbeat about her experience on the BBC One talent show. "It's nice to be this popular," she said.

The teenager also paid tribute to her mentor, Boy George.

"One of the main pieces of advice he's given to all of us is to break the nation's hearts. If you leave an impact on someone, they're going to want to vote for you."

She added: "I feel like the supporters I have are going to be supporting me for a really long time so I'm very grateful."

The finalists have all recorded their version of an original track titled All You Good Friends.

It is produced by Peter-John Vettese, who has worked with Gary Barlow and the Pet Shop Boys, to name a few.

In addition to the single, the winner will also sign a recording contract with Universal Music.
