The stars of Green Wing have shown up to support the junior doctors' strike

Many people have been calling for a reunion of the hit show Green Wing for years. Few, however, thought it would come at a junior doctor picket line.

Stephen Mangan, Tamsin Greig and other members of the cult comedy - which is based in a hospital - showed up to display solidarity with striking doctors in London.

They even wore scrubs.

Green Wing left the air in 2007 after two series on Channel 4, helping launch the career of actors such as Mangan.

He thanked the dozens of supporters outside the Northwick Park hospital and reportedly said the government had been "bullying" the junior doctors.

Thousands of junior doctors have launched industrial action as a bitter dispute with the government over new contracts intensifies.

More than 5,100 procedures and operations have been postponed as a result of the 48-hour walkout.

Mangan had announced on Twitter that he and the cast would be joining the picket line.

And, naturally, supporters of the junior doctors were absolutely delighted by the gesture.
