A man has admitted raping and murdering a 15-year-old girl.

Kayleigh Haywood, of Measham, Leicestershire, disappeared on November 13 and was killed two days later.

Officers were drafted in from across the region to help with the hunt for the teenager, whose body was discovered five days after she went missing on Leicestershire farmland.

Stephen Beadman, of George Avenue, Ibstock, admitted the rape and murder of the teenager when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court via video-link.

Luke Harlow, also of George Avenue, appeared at the same hearing via video-link and pleaded guilty to one count of sexual grooming and two counts of sexual activity with Kayleigh.

Both men denied one charge of false imprisonment of Kayleigh and will stand trial at Nottingham Crown Court on June 8.
