The emergency slide from a private plane fell off midair - and landed in a woman's back yard in Arizona.

Ian Gregor, of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), said the plane was at 2,800 feet altitude when the crew was told the right-side, over-the-wing emergency slide had deployed.

According to CBS, Andrea Self, 31 the owner of the house where the slide landed, said: "It was a loud bang - and then the house actually shook.

"It just smelled like sulphur burning.

"It's definitely a blessing that the damage is (to) a tree and not a person."

ABC News reports that the incident occurred as Atlas Air crew members were making their final approach to Sky Harbour airport in Phoenix.

The site added that there were 17 crew members and staff on board, but no passengers.

The FAA is now investigating the incident.
