The US state is looking to make a change in the law which could see it shoot prisoners rather than administer lethal injections.

The move comes after controversy surrounding the use of the unreliable drugs which has seen some prisoners left in pain during botched executions which saw a decline in the availability of the lethal drugs. The move is expected to also make it cheaper to kill those awaiting completion of their sentences on death row.

State lawmakers will also be considering other alternative methods such as electrocution and the gas chamber.
