A theme park in Devon has banned screaming on its brand new rollercoaster - so as not to upset the neighbours.

Riders on The Big One at The Big Sheep Amusement Park in Bideford have been urged not to shout or scream, reports the Mirror.

A sign at the ride reads: "This is a family ride – not a white knuckle thrill ride. Enjoy the views but we love our neighbours. PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT OR SCREAM! Thank ewe."

The Daily Star reports that the sign is a result of a five year planning permission battle with local residents who claimed the new rollercoaster would be "intrusive".

However, Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain boss Andy Hine said: "I cannot see any way that a non-screaming rule can be enforced."

The theme park describes the rollercoaster as Devon's "Biggest, highest and longest rollercoaster".

It added: "After years of planning and millions of pounds the "biggest, highest and fastest" roller coaster North Devon has ever seen has now become a reality and it's at The BIG Sheep Family Attraction!

"It is 400m long and reaches heights of up to 13m and is being installed above the Battlefield Devon attraction.

"The roller coaster which was originally housed at Metroland in Gateshead near Newcastle has been in the planning for 5 years +."

The attraction also shared information about the new ride on its Facebook page:
