Maze Runner star severely injured after being hit by car while filming sequel

The lead star of the Maze Runner films was severely injured after being run over by a car on the set of the new movie.

Dylan O'Brien was filming a scene for Maze Runner: The Death Cure when the accident happened.

TMZ reports that the 24-year-old was rushed to hospital in British Columbia with "severe injuries".

He is currently undergoing treatment.

The actor, known for his role in Teen Wolf, may have suffered multiple broken bones.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox said production has been shut down "while he recovers".

In a statement to Deadline, the spokesperson said: "Dylan O'Brien was injured yesterday while filming 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' in Vancouver, Canada.

"He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment. Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery."
