Howzat! Alastair Cook bowled over by life on the farm

Updated

England Test cricket captain Alastair Cook will give the nation a glimpse of his farming side in a special appearance on BBC One's Countryfile.

Cook and his wife Alice talk viewers through their daily routine on the farm during lambing time and shows his two-year-old daughter Elsie getting "stuck in".

The couple also discuss the benefits having a farm has had on his sporting career.

Bill Lyons, Countryfile's executive editor, said: "The My Countryside feature is a popular part of the show where well-known faces take viewers to their favourite part of the countryside.

"Alastair's life on the farm isn't how many cricket fans would imagine England's opening batsman spending his time away from the sport, but this special access shows that Alastair is just as serious and dedicated about his farming as he is about cricket."

Countryfile is Britain's most popular weekly factual TV show and is on air 52 weeks a year.

Cook's appearance marks the final instalment of the My Countryside feature.

:: Countryfile will air on BBC One at 6.45pm on Sunday March 20.
