Driverless Corvette surged across road and into pedestrians

A bizarre incident in New York yesterday afternoon saw a driverless Corvette career across a road and into a group of pedestrians, trapping a woman underneath.

The yellow sports car was positioned in the exit of a parking garage when it suddenly lurched forward across East 56th Street and onto the pavement on the opposite side of the road, while its driver, who was standing nearby, looked on helplessly.
