Isle of Wight Zoo opens the National Poo Museum

The Isle of Wight Zoo has a novel way of attracting visitors for Easter 2016 - by opening the National Poo Museum.

The attraction (which is not to be sniffed at) opens on Good Friday and is the first in a pile of 'Poo at the Zoo' events, which will explore the subject of human and waster matter, from its production through to its value as a potential energy source.

Speaking to the Isle of Wight County Press, a zoo spokeswoman said: "It's stinky, unpleasant and sometimes dangerous stuff — but it's all around us and inside us too — and perhaps surprisingly our planet would be a much poorer place without it!

"The National Poo Museum is set to be the place to immerse oneself in the wonder of excrement while finding out lots of extraordinary nuggets of information about all things poo-y, kids will love it!"

The project has been developed with the help of landscapers and artists Eccleston George, who have tweeted updates about preparations for the exhibit:

According to the Island Echo, there'll be a 38-million-year-old poo on display, as well as poo samples from a meerkat, fox, human baby, cow, lesser Madagascan tenrec, and a tawny owl.

There'll also be a poo with teeth and bones in it, a poo that looks like a cereal bar, and a child's shoe with cat poo in it.
