Paloma Faith reveals 'emotional' response to The Voice contestant Jordan Gray

Paloma Faith has said she becomes "emotional" whenever she hears The Voice contestant Jordan Gray sing.

The transgender vocalist originally appeared during the blind auditions segment, but she failed to impress the all-star panel of Faith, will.i.am, Boy George and Ricky Wilson.

Gray was given a second chance when Londoner JJ Soulx left the BBC One show for "personal reasons".

"Jordan's my comeback girl," her team coach Faith said. "I didn't turn for her blind audition, but ... I'm over the moon that I decided to bring Jordan back."

The 34-year-old Brit Awards winner added: "Every time I watch her perform anything, I get emotional."

Essex resident Gray told The Voice: "I think I'm the first transgender person that's ever been on this series. It's really great to be here."

She continued: "I belong here and I just need to make sure I work hard enough to stay here."

Gray, who was born male and now lives as a female, has quickly become a viewer favourite.

She has been tipped to become the show's first transgender winner.

The Voice has now reached the knock-out stage, with the four coaches each tasked with cutting their individual teams down from eight acts to just three.

Up first on Saturday's episode are Faith and Wilson's teams.

With a place in the live shows at stake, each contestant must impress with their own choice of song.

"They have to go for it. Don't look back," Faith said.

Team Faith features Rick Snowdon who lost half of his 26-stone body weight.

The Hartlepool rocker has been inundated with bizarre gifts from around the world since he shot to fame on the TV talent show.

Fans have sent underwear, jewellery, aftershave and even paintings.

Alongside Gray and Snowdon, Faith Nelson, Dwaine Hayden, Deano, Beth Morris, Aaron Hill and Heather Cameron-Hayes will contest the few live show places available.

As he contemplated the singers in the knock-out stage, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Wilson stated: "They just have to be the best. Take a risk. Be brave."

Wilson's team includes former Liberty X pop star Kevin Simm.

The Chorley-born soloist wowed all four coaches in his blind audition, but he lost his head-to-head vocal duel with teenager Nelson in the battle rounds.

Wilson chose to "steal" Simm for his team after Faith decided to keep 17-year-old Nelson.

The other acts on team Wilson vying for a place in the live shows are Brooklyn Richards, Chloe Castro, Jolan, Aliesha Lobuczek, Kagan, Mia Sylvester and Rachel Ann.
