The Saturdays star Vanessa White joins teenage cancer line-up

One of stars of girl band The Saturdays has joined a diverse line-up of talent for RISE, a brand new music event in support of young people with cancer.

Vanessa White headlines the gig which will showcase acts from the world of R&B, hip hop and grime.

The singer/songwriter has enjoyed numerous hits with Saturdays bandmates Una Foden, Mollie King, TV presenter Rochelle Humes and Frankie Bridge, wife of footballer Wayne Bridge.

RISE will be one of the first live solo shows for White since she released her debut solo EP Chapter One last month.

The event is a collaboration between the Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to supporting young people aged 13-24 with cancer, venue operator Academy Music Group and SBTV, a digital music discovery, entertainment and news platform.

Acts also confirmed for RISE's inaugural show at London's O2 Islington Academy include Jay Prince, a hip hop artist and music producer from east London.

Essex grime MC Dream McLean and Derby grime artist Eyez will also play the gig on March 29.

North London's Zak Abel, whose debut track was produced by Kaytranada, and The HeavyTrackerz, who have worked with Mobo award-winner Stormzy, also feature.

Grace Savage, UK beatbox champion and a singer/songwriter, will also hit the stage alongside Alanna Verde, who has caught the attention of the likes of DJ Trevor Nelson from BBC Radio 1Xtra.

There will also be appearances from rising star Olah Bliss and soul hip hop artist, Joel Baker.

RISE, sponsored by Boohoo, has been spearheaded by SBTV founder Jamal Edwards, Dan Dare of Kolidescopes fame, Doug Hall, the founder of D Digital PR and Mikill Pane, who has collaborated with Ed Sheeran and Paloma Faith.

Pane will also be performing tracks from his debut album, Blame Miss Barclay.

Teenage Cancer Trust's Tom Marshall said: "For every young person Teenage Cancer Trust is able to reach, there's another we can't. This must change. RISE will help us take a step closer to being able to support every young person with cancer who needs us."
