The American Airlines plane hit a Southwest plane while taxiing on the runway.

It's safe to say that the passengers on board weren't happy with the incident. Shawn D Spencer posted a photo on Twitter of the damaged plane wing with the caption: "Our plane just clipped another plane getting ready to taxi. Pilot error and a need for more sleep for the pilot, duh!"

While Carlos Salinas also posted a picture of the incident saying: "AA plane hits Southwest plane in taxi way, you would think they have all the room in the world!"

Luckily no one was hurt as a result of the collision and it was blamed on 'pilot error'.

According to the Detroit News the collision took place on a de-icing area and both of the planes were due to fly to Dallas.

Ross Feinstein, an American Airlines spokesman, told The News: "We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience, and are re-accomodating them on other flights. There are no reported industries."

The airline also said that the plane will be put through a maintenance check and inspection by the National Transportation Safety Board before they are returned to service.
