A dashcam captured the moment a heroic passer-by managed to stop a fleeing driver after they were involved in a crash with a Porsche in Birmingham.

Michael Scott saw the Vauxhall Astra attempting to get away from the scene of the shunt, rolling up to a junction with a large amount of damage to its front end.
Scott tried to block the Astra from leaving the junction, but the persistent driver manages to get around him.

As the Astra pulled to a stop behind a stationary car, Scott takes his opportunity to stop the fleeing driver – opening the door and removing the car's keys from the ignition.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Scott said: "I thought the driver was trying to do a runner, so when the car in front of me moved off I managed to speed up and block the Astra in.

"I got out and tried to get the keys from the woman's car, but she drove off around me as she tried to make her escape for the second time.

"Luckily another car was blocking her path, so I saw my opportunity to stop her getting away by grabbing the keys from the car."

A West Midlands Police spokesperson told the paper: "A 24-year-old Birmingham woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was later bailed pending further enquiries."
