Win! A luxury two-night break in York

THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW CLOSED

We've teamed up with the historic Royal York Hotel in York to offer one lucky AOL Travel reader and a guest a two-night stay in a deluxe room with a sumptuous afternoon tea in the recently opened Garden Room.

Originally opened in 1878, the hotel has recently completed a multimillion pound restoration so it is a perfect time to visit. Ideal for a UK city break, it is centrally located, opposite York train station and a short walk to all of York's visitor attractions, such as York Minster and the Shambles.

The Royal York offers elegant accommodation, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The deluxe rooms, where the winner will stay, have beautiful garden views and have been stylishly refurbished by Goddard Littlefair. Blending the grandeur of late-Victorian architecture with modern comforts, the bedrooms feature fast, free WiFi and Neal's Yard bathroom toiletries.

As part of the prize, the winner and guest can enjoy delightful finger sandwiches with a delicious twist on British classics including Duck egg mayo and Uig Lodge smoked salmon. Then come freshly made scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream; and a cake stand filled with pastries, macarons, éclairs and a wonderful blood orange and white chocolate slice - all served in the gorgeous Garden Room, which has views out onto York Minster.

The winner can also enjoy breakfast in the new Refectory Kitchen and Terrace restaurant, headed up by Executive Chef Nick Evans, which serves up a seasonal menu that celebrates local, seasonal produce. The Chapter House bar in the hotel is ideal for a pre or post-dinner drink.
