Sarah Ferguson is reportedly selling her £150,000 Bentley for the bargain price of £33,950. The luxury car was apparently a gift to the Duchess of York from businessman Geur Frantzen in 2008, and after eight years of luxury, she has decided she'd rather have the money.

The Daily Mail reported that the Continental Flying Spur was a gift from the Norwegian tycoon, who she was seen out and about with over a two-year period. Frantzen was an executive of Findus Group UK, and at the time the press calculated that the car was worth 800,000 fish fingers.

It has seen its share of ups and downs. In 2008 a chauffeur opened one of the doors without looking, and the door took a blow from a passing car. Then in 2010 the car was said to be sitting unused in the garage because it needed expensive repairs. Now The Sun has quoted a 'pal', who said Sarah didn't use the car, so selling it made sense.

Cheap?

The price seems to indicate that the Duchess of York hasn't added anything extra to reflect its celebrity history - as this is roughly the going rate for this model of this age.

There's a chance she's selling herself short here.

Clearly a car once owned by the Duchess isn't going to command the sort of premium as - for example - a green Audi convertible owed by Princess Diana in the mid 1990s, which sold for £36,500 in 2013 - and had a market value at the time of £3,000.

However, a 1991 Bentley Turbo once owned by the Prince of Wales sold for £9,000 in 2013, which is a decent premium for a 22-year-old car - even one that cost £160,000 when new.

And there remains demand for items with a connection to the Duchess of York. A slice of wedding cake from her wedding to Prince Andrew sold at auction last year - and had the same reserve price as a slice from Prince Charles's wedding to Camilla.

But what do you think? Would you fancy a second hand Bentley with royal connections?
