A huge five metre-plus great white shark has been filmed swimming around game fishing boats in Australia.

Deckhand Michael Muscat was on the charter boat Tru-Dee V, of Bermagui Game Fishing Charters, when his crew first saw the shark off Narooma on the south coast of NSW.

Mr Muscat decided to lean over the side and use his GoPro to capture footage of the shark leisurely passing by.

The group had been targeting dolphinfish in the area, and was shocked to see the large great white circling the area.

But, they said, the shark was not aggressive at all and didn't appear to be interested in their catch.

'Crusty', the skipper of the Tru-Dee V, told Bateman's Bay Post: "The shark was doing laps and was totally passive. It wasn't even interested in the dolphinfish we were hooking."

According to Stuff.co.nz, other fishing boats in the area also saw the shark and one skipper said: "It was five-plus metres. A six-metre boat was next to it and it was as big as the boat."
