Brits need extra £26,500 a year to live happily
Do you feel like you earn enough money to live happily or could you do with a little extra cash each month to be more comfortable?
A new survey has revealed that more than 80% of Brits feel that their current household income is below the adequate amount for them to live happily.
The survey, which was conducted by money-saving site, Voucherbox, found that many Brits believe they earn a staggering £26,557 to little.
Unsurprisingly, the results varied across the country, with those in London believing they require the highest additional income, suggesting a figure of £30,515 annually. The research also found that only 14% of Londoners are happy with their current earnings.
Although they may have the lowest regional income, the south west of England saw the most positive response with 23% satisfied with their income.
But what are the reasons for people needing more money?
Helping family members and paying off debt are some of the most popular reasons but one-off payments like holidays and travel money were also highly rated.
This research comes as it has been announced that the average salary for an advertised job increased by 0.6% in December which means the average pay on offer is now £33,322.
Doug Monro, co-founder of Adzuna, said: "October and November brought increased numbers of lower-paid positions into the jobs market, bringing down average salaries.
"These roles have been filled, resulting in a prospective salary rise for job hunters seeking new work."
