Frozen ice bubbles lit up by Northern Lights in Canada
A lucky photographer captured the moment frozen ice bubbles were lit up by the Northern Lights in Canada.
The breathtaking photos show the perfectly frozen bubbles under the surface of the water spectacularly illuminated by the eerie green glow of the Northern Lights over Abraham Lake.
Photographer David Swindler, from Utah, US, snapped the incredible images at Abraham Lake in Alberta, Canada.
David, 36, said: "We had a great time photographing the ice bubbles."
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he added: "It was very exciting, and the green aurora and the blue ice bubble made for a nice composition. I'm so glad I managed to get these photographs - I wish I could have found a better composition but the aurora wasn't waiting around."
Last year, a photographer in Norway witnessed a pod of whales basking under the Northern Lights.
An amazing video shot by Harold Albrigtsen off the coast of Kvaløya (Whale Island), near Tromsø, showed the humpback whales swimming below the green sky.
According to Global News, Albrigtsen was testing his new Sony A7 camera on Monday and Tuesday evening when he spotted the amazing sight.
Norway is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights when they can be viewed from 21 September to 21 March.
