Holidaymakers looking for life in the fast lane can now rent the Dublin home of former Formula One driver Eddie Irvine.

The luxury house is near the Sorrento Road in Dalkey, one of Ireland's smartest addresses. Anyone booking it will have Bono, Van Morrison and The Edge as neighbours - but will need to fork out £939 per night through AirBNB, with a three-night minimum stay.

"Within a stone's throw of the sea, this wonderful home is truly unique and offers an extremely generous sized living room, dining room, study, large games and pool area with a bar feature," the listing reads. "There is also a sauna, jacuzzi and plunge pool."

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom house is over 5,000 square feet in size and sleeps ten people, making the price just that bit more affordable.

It has a large, modern kitchen in high-gloss white with American walnut flooring, and there's a large dining area with seating for 12 and double-height ceilings.

Upstairs, there's a huge living room with views over Killiney Bay to Bray Head, as well as a small viewing tower.

The games room has a bar and snooker table and opens on to the pool, which is surrounded by timber decking with seating and a barbecue area. There's no garden to speak of, though, and the driveway's shared.

Irvine, who has been aiming to make his living as a property developer since retiring from Formula One, first put the house on the market in 2004 for €6.5 million - but it failed to sell.

He tried again two years ago at the reduced price of €4 million, still with no luck. He had more success, though, with his luxury house in Miami Beach, Florida, which sold for £7.1 million last year.

From a site initially aimed at sofa-surfers, AirBNB has become highly successful at attracting luxury houses, many owned by celebrities. Actress Emily Blunt, signer Mariah Carey and Brazilian football star Ronaldinho have all listed their properties on the site.
