Things Around the House You Can Sell for a Lot of Money

We all love to make a bit of extra money and what better way to do it than by selling things you already own and no longer have any use for!

You'd be amazed by the amount of things in your home that you no longer consider useful that other people will pay top dollar for.

Here are a selection of household items that you might be able to flog online and earn a little extra cash from!

1. First edition books
These can be hard to sell, as value depends on their popularity, because they are often sold at auction. However you could be in luck if you find a sought-after title because they can sell for as much as $40,000 (£28,000).

2. Retro games consoles
Prices of retro gaming consoles seem to have increased dramatically in recent years with some estimates suggesting that retro games bring in about $200 million each year.

3. Antique silverware
Antique silverware can be valued at thousands of pounds, so make sure you know exactly what things are made of before you decide to hand them over to a car-boot sale.

4. Vintage board games
Be sure to check your home for vintage board games too, some of the them might fetch you a pretty penny! There is currently a vintage Monopoly game from the 1960s on sale on eBay for almost £70 and a vintage gold edition Scrabble board listed for a staggering £280.

5. Barbies
Vintage Barbie dolls can sell for thousands of pounds and eBay has even provided users with a guide to buying vintage Barbies. The page includes information on the different types of vintage models that are out there.

6. Old electronics
Some old electronics are going for surprisingly high prices on eBay - but if you're the one buying you need to make sure that they're definitely in working order before you splash your cash on a vintage radio.

7. Hot Wheels
They call them Hot Wheels for a reason! Some of these older tiny toy cars can sell for a few hundred a piece, so check down the back of your sofa for any that might have escaped the cleaning.

Why not have a look around your home and see if you can spot anything that might be worth something to someone else!

You never know you might be as lucky as the man from Devon who recently found a vase in his attic and decided to sell it, only to find out it was a rare Moon flask worth thousands of pound.

The vase was eventually sold to a buyer in Hong Kong for £488,000.
