First Drive: Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Updated

The RAV4 has been one of Toyota's most popular vehicles, with six million sold worldwide since its launch in 1994. Having been one of the first compact SUVs on the market, this new incarnation faces stronger competition than ever. The question is, can it handle it? AOL Cars heads to Alicante to find out.

What is it?

The RAV4 has traditionally been one of Toyota's best sellers, offering reliability and comfort in a capable four-wheel-drive package. This new hybrid version hopes to convert those traditional diesel drivers – and business users alike – to a new part electric powertrain. Based on the previous model RAV4 this refresh hopes to add a little more comfort, as well as technology, to the well-known package.
