Street cats in Istanbul now have a place to call home - thanks to the kindness of a religious leader who opened up a mosque's doors to let them get cosy inside.

Imam Mustafa Efe started welcoming stray cats and kittens into the mosque last year and it hasn't gone unnoticed by worshipers. In fact it's become a bit of an attraction for visitors.

To further illustrate how people's love of cats transcends language barriers, religions and other differences, a video Mustafa posted of a mother cat feeling comfortable enough to bring her kittens inside and raise them has been viewed on Facebook more than 1.1 million times.

Mustafa's love for cats is easy to see - he films them, plays with them and even calls them guests of the mosque.

With the temperatures dropping we're sure all of Mustafa's furry friends are glad to be living the life of an indoor cat rather than roaming the streets in the cold.
