Former public toilet in Spitalfields on sale for £1 million

The footage above shows a former public toilet opposite the famous Spitalfields Market in London that is now up for sale.

You may wonder who is going to want to buy a public toilet but the price tag that has been put on it suggests the property is in high demand.

The former toilet has been put up for sale for a staggering £1 million and Clarke & Lloyds Property Consultants have been charged with selling the unusual piece of real estate.

The unusual property is being heralded as perfect for a 'unique restaurant/bar', although we imagine a lot of people wouldn't be too keen on eating somewhere that used to be a public bathroom!

The online advertisement states: "Formerly a public toilet, the site was redeveloped into commercial unit over 15 years ago and being used as Bar/Restaurant. The premises comprises of lower ground floor unit occupying approximately 600 sq.ft and a private outside seating area of approximately 435 sq.ft. The charming and quirky premises is ideal for a number of different venues including Bars, Restaurant, Nightclub etc."

According to the Guardian the property is last believed to have been sold in 2000, although the sale price now is thought to be around three times as much as it was 15 years ago.

The property is found opposite Hawksmoor Church and within walking distance of Shoreditch and Aldgate.

The former toilet is listed as 'Retail A3/A4' which means that the property can be used 'for the sale of food and drink for consumption on the premises' and it can also be converted into the following: 'public houses, wine bars or other drinking establishments (but not night clubs).'
