How to be more successful at work this year
Since we spend most of our waking hours at work, it pays to make the most of your time there.
Often you'll only need to make a few changes to make a big difference to your career.
So what do you need to do to make yourself more productive in 2016? Take a look at our top tips below to see how you can improve your working day.
Time management
If a task will take less than a few minutes, like answering a phone call or replying to an email, do them as soon as you get them. It may sound simple but it removes one item from your to-do list and frees up a little extra time to be getting on with something else.
Speak up
Being a wallflower is not always a positive character trait in the workplace, you should let your ideas be heard without taking over the conversation. Not only could this result in positive changes to your workplace but you will also become known as someone who is ready with ideas.
Stretch your legs
If you're beginning to feel a little overwhelmed in the office, why not take a break outside. The fresh air and physical movement will help clear your mind before you have to sit back down in front of your computer.
Talk to co-workers
Actively seek feedback from supervisors and team mates so you always know your areas of opportunity for growth.
Presentation
Pay attention to the tone of your voice and body language. You want to try and exude confidence without being defensive or overbearing.
List your positives
It's not bragging to keep a written list of your career accomplishments, sales numbers and positive reports can really help when you're up for a promotion or pay rise.
Get an early night
Stay focused by getting adequate sleep. You will be more alert and perform better throughout the working day if you're well rested.
