Police have confirmed that 10 adults and two children were rescued from the stranded Stagecoach in Ayrshire.

Speaking to ITV News, Ayrshire Police said: "Police Scotland can confirm that 10 adults (4 men and 6 women) and 2 children, one boy aged 7 and one girl aged 5, have been rescued in Ayrshire after a bus got stranded in flood water in Dailly, Ayrshire.

"Emergency Services would like to thank the many local people in Dailly who have been rallying around, providing blankets and quilts for people and offering hot drinks to ensure people are as comfortable as can be."

Locals and reporters managed to snap pictures of the scene and share them on Twitter.

The bus reportedly got about halfway through the road before getting stuck.

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach told Sky News: "One of our buses travelling from Girvan to Ayr was involved in an incident near Dailly this afternoon.

"The road, which was open to traffic at the time, was affected by flooding and we are assisting the emergency services in dealing with the situation."

Storm Frank has caused chaos across parts of Scotland, northern England, Wales and Ireland, and is the third named storm of the month.
