Tenerife is the most popular holiday destination for Brits looking for a New Year getaway.
A survey compiled for the Guardian by TravelSupermarket showed that Tenerife was considered more than any other holiday destination.

The analysis was based on 14.5 million searches made on the comparison website for holiday and hotel breaks between September and November.
In total, 8.3 per cent of searches were for Tenerife, while New York was in second place with 5.5 per cent searching the Big Apple.
The Canary Islands proved extremely popular in general, with Lanzarote in at fourth most-searched place, Gran Canaria in sixth and Fuerteventura in the eighth spot.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at TravelSupermarket, told the Guardian: "Our data shows the Canary island of Tenerife is the favourite with Brits for taking a holiday at New Year – and it's easy to understand why. Winter sun pretty much guaranteed, great value for money due it being tax-free and the chance to party in the way that you want means no one is disappointed."

5. Dubai (4.3%)
6. Gran Canaria (4.1%)
7. Paris (2.8%)
8. Fuerteventura (2.2%)
9. Cancún (1.9%)
10. Sal (1.7%)
Meanwhile, looking for a great escape for 2016? Our friends at Skyscanner revealed their top five destinations on the rise - and at the top of the list is a little-known region of Portugal called Ponta Delgada.
Havana in Cuba came in ay second place, Tokyo, Japan, took the third spot.
Copenhagen in Denmark was in fourth place, while Sal in Cape Verde, which also featured 10th in the TravelSupermarket most-searched New Year holiday list, came in at fifth place.
