Pensioner in court over murder of woman at care home

A pensioner will appear in court today accused of the murder of a woman shot dead at a care home.

Ronald King, 86, will appear before magistrates in Chelmsford accused of killing Rita King, 81, at De La Mer House in Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex.

A post-mortem examination on Tuesday revealed that Mrs King, who is reported to be the accused's wife, died from a gunshot wound to the head on December 28.

King, of of Cedar Close, Walton-on-the-Naze, is in police custody ahead of his appearance in court, having been charged with murder on Tuesday night.
