According to the BBC, the three men involved attached homemade explosives to the vending machine, before taking cover inside their vehicle during the explosion.

However, one man was unable to shut the vehicle door, and was struck in the head by a piece of metal shrapnel.

His accomplice took him to hospital, where the men initially said he'd fallen down some stairs.

But one of them later admitted they'd blown up the machine.

The man later died from his injuries.

The Guardian reports that the men left condoms and money scattered around the damaged vending machine.

The men were arrested before later being released from custody.
