McFly's Harry Judd is the winner of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

The 30-year-old drummer competed against contestants from previous series of the show including model Abbey Clancy, TV presenter Alison Hammond, TV and Radio Presenter Lisa Snowdon, The People's Strictly winner Lance Corporal Cassidy Little and Holby City's Tom Chambers.

Judd and his professional partner, Joanne Clifton, scored a perfect 40 for their American Smooth to Baby, It's Cold Outside.

The judges' scores were combined with votes from the studio audience to decide who would be lifting the famous Silver Star trophy.

The festive spectacular was hosted by the show's regular presenters, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Sir Bruce Forsyth was due to host the special, but pulled out due to health reasons.

The veteran presenter underwent keyhole surgery on an abdominal aortic aneurysm in November.

Judd, who won the show in 2011, said of his Christmas Special win: "It's amazing, thank you so much, everyone. I had the most amazing time and I just want to dedicate this to Joanne who has been an incredible teacher and an incredible dancer. Thank you and Happy Christmas!"

Clifton said she was overwhelmed by the win, adding: "Harry is an absolute natural and performed amazingly on the Christmas special. I want to say a massive thank you to him for being such a great dancer, partner, student and friend - he has made this experience such great fun for me.

"I am glad he can take home the Silver Star trophy and show his baby when it is born in January! I also want to say well done to the other contestants because as a group we put on a fantastic show!"

The Christmas special had a magical Christmas theme which saw the judges and contestants taking on the roles of characters from popular stories such as Jack Frost, Puss in Boots, Scrooge, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel and Alice in Wonderland.

The judges joined in the festive fun with head judge Len Goodman dressing up as Snow White's father known as The First King, Darcey Bussell dressed up as Snow White, Bruno Tonioli was Snow White's handsome Prince - while Craig Revel Horwood was Grumpy from the Seven Dwarves.

The show also featured a musical performance by Dame Shirley Bassey and vocal group Blake, who together sang The Christmas Song.

Familiar faces in the audience included contestants from this year's series including Jeremy Vine and Ainsley Harriott.
