Journalist attacked at home praised as 'brilliant and fearless'

An investigative journalist who was attacked in his home has been described as "a brilliant and fearless reporter".

Russell Findlay, 41, news and investigations reporter at The Scottish Sun, is understood to have had liquid thrown in his face at his home in Glasgow at about 8.45am on Wednesday.

A News UK spokesman said: "We can confirm that our journalist Russell Findlay was attacked this morning.

"Russell is a brilliant and fearless reporter and our only concern now is for his well-being."

No arrests have been made but a person is understood to have been detained by police.

Writing on Twitter, Mr Findlay said: "Fat hitman left his teeth in my driveway. Fail."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 41-year-old man was injured after being attacked at a house in Glasgow.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

"The extent of any injuries are not known at this time, however medical staff describe his condition as stable. Police enquiries are continuing."
