Freebie Friday: Get yourself to the end of the festivities in one piece
It's that time of year when a third of us all relieved to get our December pay packets early - and the other two thirds wish we did. The problem, of course, is that getting the money early means millions of us spend it early, and then January is something of a tight squeeze.
A study by comparethemarket.com found that 36% of people are left having to rely on credit cards, payday, bank or family loans to get them through the rest of the month. This is despite the fact that 80% of people did exactly the same thing last year.
Dr. Thomas Webb, Social Psychologist at The University of Sheffield and Chair of The Institute of Inertia says: "Our message would be for the nation to remember that a pay cheque might not be for life, but should be for more than just Christmas!"
If you find yourself overstretched by Christmas spending, therefore, it's worth taking advantage of any freebies.

Free Santa suit cleaning
If any member of your family has spent any of the festivities in fancy dress, then the users of HotUKdeals.com have discovered that Morrisons has a handy freebie. Until 2 January, it's offering free next day and same day dry cleaning for Santa and Elf suits.
Free £50 spend
If you're getting married this year, you'll be used to everyone making everything a bit more expensive as soon as you mention the word 'wedding'. As a brilliant departure from the norm, Amazon.com is offering a freebie. If you sign up to its wedding list service, and your guests spend £250 on the site, you'll get a £50 credit to spend on Amazon.
Free Uber taxi
There's a handy freebie for anyone going out over the festive period. If you visit the Johnnie Walker website and sign the pact never to drink and drive, then you'll get a free promotional code for a £10 Uber journey - which you can give to a friend to ensure they get home safe.
Free train ticket
There are a couple of deals available to new members of Topcashback. Both are only available as the first freebie you get on the site, so you'll need to choose between them, but both could come in very handy over the festive period.
The first is a £10 discount off trainfares when you use thetrainline.com tickets via TopCashback. All you need to do is sign up to the cashback site for free, find the 'thetrainline.com' offer page and click on the 'Get Cashback' link to purchase the train ticket. Your £10 cashback will become payable within 14 days. The deal is valid until 27th December, but numbers are limited, so it might be worth booking sooner rather than later.
Free cinema ticket
The second Topcashback deal for new members is up to £10 cashback when you buy a cinema ticket. This one uses the receipt snap and save system, which means you have to buy the ticket, take a photo of your receipt, and upload it to the website or app. Within 14 days, you'll get the money back in your bank account.
