Police launch probe after two women's bodies found in Birmingham house

An investigation has been launched after the bodies of two women were discovered inside a house.

West Midlands Police said it was alerted by ambulance crews attending a home in Raglan Way, Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, at about 9.30am.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their deaths are being treated as unexplained.

A spokesman for the force said: "Post mortems will take place in due course to establish a cause of death.

"Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this investigation at this stage."

Forensic officers are working at the scene and the front door of the mid-terrace house had been covered with a blue police tent.

Neighbours said an 80-year-old woman and her daughter, thought to be in her late 40s, lived at the address.

Some neighbours of the women were too upset to speak to reporters but a resident who lives around 30 yards from the sealed-off property expressed sadness at the discovery of the bodies.

The woman, who declined to be named, said: "A mother and daughter have lived there for years.

"The daughter had a history of depression but she would do anything for anybody.

"I went to the shops at a quarter to nine and everything seemed normal but when I got back the police were here. Whatever has happened, it is very, very sad."
