The Dorchester Hotel in London has been named as the best city hotel in the world.

The honour for the World's Leading City Hotel was given at the prestigious World Travel Awards, which rated everything from hotels and destinations to airlines.

According to the Daily Mail, the Dorchester, which is located on Park Lane and has views over Hyde Park, beat 15 other nominees in the category.

The hotel is a favourite with "celebrities, world leaders, royalty and high society".

It boasts a three Michelin-starred restaurant headed up by Alain Ducasse, and an award-winning afternoon tea.

Meanwhile, the best family hotel went to Minos Imperial Luxury Beach Resort & Spa in Crete, Greece, and the best hotel in the world was named as La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco.

Thinking of where to go for your next holiday? Dubai was rated the top tourist destination, the Maldives picked up World's Leading Beach Destination, and the Las Vegas Strip was named the best tourist attraction.

Over to airlines, and Etihad was named the best, while AirAsia was crowned the top budget airline.

Love diving? Apparently Zanzibar is the place to go, while, if you're a cruise-lover, Jamaica was hailed the best destination.
