William and Kate become City brokers for fundraising day on trading floor

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are preparing to join City brokers on the trading floor to raise money for charity.

William and Kate will attend ICAP's 23rd annual charity day and have a go at closing deals over the phone.

The Duke has taken part in the fundraising event before, but it will be Kate's first time.

She was due to attend in 2012 but had to cancel after being hospitalised with hyperemesis gravidarum - a severe form of morning sickness - while pregnant with Prince George.

The couple are known for their competitive streak and will be expected to battle to see who can make the most money.

Global revenues raised this year from trading on ICAP's charity day will be donated to a range of charities, including SkillForce, of which William is patron, and SportsAid and Place2Be, of which Kate is patron.

Since ICAP's fundraising day was started in 1993, nearly £120 million has been raised for charity.

William and Kate will take a tour of ICAP's offices and meet representatives from SkillForce, SportsAid and Place2Be, before taking to the telephones, under the guidance of the brokers, to speak to some of ICAP's clients.

ICAP is an inter-dealer broker which matches buyers and sellers who want to trade in a range of products, from interest rates to commodities.
