When is the last date I can order online in time for Christmas?

One of the biggest disadvantages of online shopping is the danger that you'll leave it too late.

It's always possible to run out to the high street - at a pinch, even the all-night garage - on Christmas Eve. But that's not exactly an option if you're ordering online.

ParcelHero has put together a list of last delivery dates for Christmas - and, be warned, some of them are approaching fast.

And it's created a site where you can check ordering dates and shipping times for different countries.

"While no delivery companies want to encourage last-minute deliveries, because of the risk of gifts missing Christmas Day, we think it's best to make sure customers are fully informed of the cut-off dates for placing orders," says the company's head of public relations, David Jinks.

"That's why we have launched our new tool that reveals the official final order dates for our major retailers and brings them all together in one handy page."

Some stores, says Jinks, have a cut-off date for Christmas orders as early as December 16. Last year, Very was the site for last-minute shoppers; and it still does well, with a cut-off time of 10pm on December 23.

But it's Argos that takes the crown this year, is promising its same-day delivery right up until December 24.

"Of course the last thing delivery companies want is a flood of last minute orders before Christmas, and we encourage people to order their gifts in good time and not risk the possibility of their gifts failing to arrive in time for Christmas," says Jinks.

"But we acknowledge there will always be a percentage of shoppers who do leave their shopping as late as possible."
