It's that time again! Yes, the Christmas party will be soon be here. This year, why not turn heads with a classic sixties look, inspired by Mad Men's Betty Draper.

Hair stylist Hollie Kiernan shows you how to create a sleek and sophisticated style, perfect for a feminine-yet-polished look.

How to create the look at home
First, you'll need to section off the hair. Starting at the front, pull back a section of hair behind the ear and pin it with a hair claw. Split the hair into sections two more times.

Start curling, concentrating on the front of the hair. Wrap a two-inch section of hair around the wand, making sure the hair curls towards the face. Hold in place for 10 seconds until you feel the heat come through the wand. Once you pull the wand out, keep the curl in place with a clamp or bobby pin. Continue all the way across the head.

Once you've curled the entire head and pinned it in place, leave to cool for five to 10 minutes. This will help to ensure the curls stay in place for the rest of the day.

Once cool, brush the curls out with a bristle brush. Start from the bottom of the head and work upwards, curling under with the brush as you go.

If you're left with any sections of hair that stick up, curl them around and pin in place. Spray with hairspray, leave for a few minutes, and then remove the pin. Hopefully the hair should stay in place. Finish with a spritz of hair spray – and you're done!
