Yaya Toure to go on trial for 'speeding at 123mph' on M6

Manchester City star Yaya Toure is set to go on trial accused of speeding at more than 120mph on a motorway in a turbo-charged Porsche.

The 32-year-old Ivory Coast international is expected to give evidence during a trial at Burton Magistrates' Court in Staffordshire.

Prosecutors allege that Toure, who lives in Cheshire, was "clocked" driving at 123mph on the northbound M6 near Keele services on May 20 this year.

The midfielder has previously pleaded guilty to driving at 101mph on the same stretch of motorway but denies reaching the higher speed around six minutes later.

Separate charges of having no third party insurance and failing to produce an insurance certificate were dropped at a previous hearing at Cannock Magistrates' Court.

Another witness called by the defence and two police officers are also due to give evidence to this afternoon's trial.
