Your own flat in London - handy for the train and not requiring an expensive makeover - for just £110,000. It's the perfect starter home for someone looking for an affordable place to lay their head and an easy commute to work. There's just one small problem: the flat is about as long as a family car.

The studio flat in West Norwood won't take long to sell. It's rare that something self-contained and so affordable comes on the market this close to the centre of London. The flat, on St Cloud Road, has all the amenities you need, including a kitchen sink and cooker, space to perch the kettle, a shower and toilet. There's even room for a bed - as long as you don't want to wander around too much.

The most notable thing about the flat, however, is that it measures just 12 feet long - that's around the length of the average family car. In total it boats just 14 square metres of space.

Tiny flats

It's far from the smallest flat we've spotted recently, however. It's positively palatial compared to the flat that went up for rent in September. That one offered just 72 square feet of accommodation in Knightsbridge - at an incredible £895 a week. It was very beautifully appointed, but was definitely one for people who like to be out and about, socialising.

The West Norwood flat is even bigger than the studio in Knightsbridge that went up for sale in 2012 for £90,000 and measured 86 square feet.

If you want to track down the smallest flat in London, you have to go back to the studio in Notting Hill, which went on the rental market in 2005. It cost just £135 a week at the time, and for that money offered an impressively tiny 62 square feet of space.

But what do you think? Would you live in a property of this size if it meant you could afford to live in London? Let us know in the comments.
