An American Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Heathrow - after the windshield cracked midair.

The flight was travelling from Milan en route to JFK when it diverted to London.

The plane, which had 183 passengers on board, took off from Milan at 10am and landed at Heathrow at 11.28am.

One cabin crew member, Jack Hudock, shared a picture of the cracked windscreen on Twitter, which AirLive.net also posted:



Jack wrote: "I was on the flight. Textbook emergency landing. I was working crew. Not pilot though."

A spokesperson said to MailOnline: "We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience. We are re-accommodating the passengers on other flights from London to New York."
