Susannah Constantine is first star to be voted out of I'm A Celebrity

Susannah Constantine has said she is "gutted" to be the first star voted out of I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!

The fashion expert and boxer Chris Eubank ended up in the bottom two, but it was the 53-year-old who secured the fewest votes from the public.

"I'm a bit gutted to be the first one out," she told presenters Ant and Dec. "But at the same time, I'm so excited."

The Geordie duo asked Constantine for her thoughts on controversial contestant Lady Colin Campbell, dubbed Lady C on the ITV show.

"Poor Lady C. I don't want to single her out, but she's sort of done that herself, I guess," she replied.

The TV star went on to say that living with the 66-year-old author was like being in a "bipolar atmosphere".

"It's been a kind of roller coaster. It's a bit like living in a bipolar atmosphere - you never know what's going to happen, whether the camp is going to be up or down and she's a very strong personality.

"She had the ability to bring the camp down or raise it up. A part of me was trying to understand why she was like that. There's a switch that will go off and another person arrives."

However, Constantine concluded with a compliment. "Fundamentally, she's a really lovely, lovely woman."

The fashion aficionado called her time in the jungle "bittersweet" and said it was harder than she expected.

"It's really been an incredible experience. I'm so glad I did it," she said.

Nine contestants faced the public vote to decide who would be the first to leave.

Green team members Lady C, Constantine and Most Haunted's Yvette Fielding were joined by six more celebrities.

The next three determined by the Steps To Hell challenge were the purple team - singer Tony Hadley, Jorgie Porter from Hollyoaks and choreographer Brian Friedman.

Each of the three teams left in Croc Creek had to nominate someone to take part in the challenge, with the winner's team then given the power to send another team over to the Danger Zone to face the public vote.

Steps To Hell saw the celebrities crawl through a Perspex tunnel filled with snakes, cockroaches and other critters to release a star using only their tongue.

The fastest celebrity to deliver all three stars and ring the bell won.

Former footballer Kieron Dyer lined up against reality TV star Vicky Pattison and Spandau Ballet's Hadley.

Dyer raced to victory and elected to send the purple team to the Danger Zone.

Meanwhile, the pink and yellow teams went head to head in the Cryptic Crypt challenge to determine the last three celebs to face the public vote.

They had to enter a large crypt and solve a puzzle in the fastest time possible, and the result saw the yellow team of boxer Eubank, Dyer and reality star Fearne McCann lose and be banished to the Danger Zone.

Elsewhere, the celebrities discussed the preconceived ideas they had of their camp mates.

Fielding said Dragons' Den panellist Duncan Bannatyne was "the biggest surprise".

"I thought he'd be the grumpy man he seems to be on television, but he's funny and nice and the biggest surprise out of everyone," she said.

Turning to 66-year-old Lady C, she added: "You are an extraordinary person, like Marmite. Lovely qualities, but when you blow, you blow."
