On Black Friday, we are all deal-hunters, getting up early, and spending half the day in the shops or glued to the computer to track down the best possible deals. Of course, there's a separate group of people who would prefer to avoid the sales at all costs, and refuse to partake in this festival of consumerism.

Fortunately there's a way you can do both: you can get your hands on festive goodies for absolutely nothing - with these brilliant freebies.

Free mince pie
Morrisons is offering a free mince pie to any senior citizen (you'll need to prove your age) who pops into a participating store between 2.30 and 5pm on 1 December. The deal will be redeemed in the cafe, so it's a nice opportunity to catch up with friends over a freebie.

Free Malibu hot chocolate
If you like your hot chocolate boozy, then over 18s can sign up here, and get a voucher delivered to their phone for a free Malibu hot chocolate at any participating bar or hotel (including Ibis hotels and Las Iguanas). The deal is available on Saturday, and each venue has 168 of the drinks to give away on the day, so you may need to be quick. Malibu for breakfast anyone?

Free London travel
It's a very specific deal, but it's a pretty valuable one if you are in London, you have a Mastercard, and its linked to Apple Pay on any of your Apple devices. If you fit the bill, then for the next three Mondays you can travel for free on Transport for London using Apple Pay. Each day you'll be eligible for more than £25 of travel for free - so make the most of it!

Free Clinique
If you buy a copy of Glamour magazine before Wednesday, you'll get a free Clinique mini lipstick, mascara or moisturiser. The makeup is worth a bit more than the moisturiser - as the contents works out as being worth about £8. They are all worth more than you'll pay for the magazine through (£2), so are a decent freebie.

Free Santa Letter
There are plenty of companies who offer to write a letter in return for a fee, but you don't have to pay for these things, because you can get it for free. Your child just needs to write a letter to Father Christmas, and send it to Santa/Father Christmas, Santa's Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ along with details of their name and address by 6 December. In return they'll get a reply - completely free.

There's also a brilliant website, at portablenorthpole.com, that will create a personalised message from Santa. There are some services you can pay for, but if you just want to watch a video (in which Santa greets the kids by name and shows photos of them) then it won't cost a penny.
