Four British tourists among seven killed as helicopter crashes into New Zealand glacier

A helicopter crashed at Fox Glacier in New Zealand killing all seven people on board, including four British tourists, two Australians and a local pilot.

The aircraft went down on Saturday morning at the popular tourist site in the South Island and police say poor weather has prevented emergency services from recovering the victims' bodies.

According to Stuff.co.nz, the helicopter crashes in a "heavily crevassed" area.

Rescue Co-ordination Centre spokesman Vince Cholewa said four rescue helicopters were sent to the scene after an emergency location beacon was activated.

Weather conditions in the area were "terrible" and Grey District Mayor Tony Kokshoorn said: "It wouldn't be a good day to be flying helicopters."
