Cat rescued from roof after getting crisp packet stuck on its head

A cat was rescued from a rooftop in Wales during rainy weather after getting its head stuck in a crisp packet.

The RSPCA was called out to rescue the ginger cat in Llanelli after it was spotted on top of a house on Thursday.

RSPCA inspector Rohan Barker said: "He looked very wet as it was raining quite heavily. It was very odd to see that a crisp packet was stuck on his head which he could not get off.

"We don't know how he came to have this packet stuck on his head, but he may well have been eating something from the bottom and then got himself into difficulty.

"It took quite some time up a ladder to coax the cat into my reach. But eventually I got close enough to bring him down safely and I just lifted the crisp packet off his head. It was quite firmly stuck, and would have been difficult for him to get it off himself."

The RSPCA said the cat was unharmed but "very scared" and looked to be in good health.

Last year, a cyclist in Switzerland spotted a cow on the roof of a farmhouse.

Rolf Steiner was on a bike tour travelling through the Swiss Alps when he saw the cow wobbling precariously on the incredibly steep roof near the capital Bern.

The animal had been walking on a road behind the property when it decided that fresh fields and pastures new might well be available on the other side of the roof.

But instead of going round, it jumped from the road onto the roof and clambered up to the top, before slithering down the other side and stopping when it got near the guttering.

Realising there was nothing exciting there, it then turned round and went the other way where it successfully jumped back to the ground and went back to the meadow that it originally came from.

Rolf said: "I couldn't believe my eyes and had to look three times to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. A cow on the roof."
