Amazon expands Prime same-day delivery service

Updated

Amazon is expanding its unlimited same-day delivery for Prime members across more of the UK after launching to customers in London earlier this month.

The service, available to those who pay the £79 annual Prime subscription fee, is now available to those living in Birmingham, Bristol, Dudley, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Walsall and Wolverhampton after launching in Greater London and parts of Hertfordshire and Berkshire earlier this month.

The service gives members unlimited same-day delivery on more than one million items.

Those who place an order for same-day delivery by noon on any day of the week will receive their delivery between 6pm and 10pm that evening.

Items that are eligible for same-day delivery are identified on the Amazon.co.uk website with the "Prime Same Day" logo. Amazon said there is no minimum order value.

Amazon.co.uk managing director Christopher North said: "Prime members are telling us that they love the convenience of free same-day delivery so we are quickly introducing it to many new areas of the UK.

"And we continue to invest in our delivery network to expand our fast delivery options to even more Prime members."

Amazon's drive to increase Prime membership has also seen it introduce one-hour Prime Now deliveries in parts of London and Birmingham for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour delivery windows between 8am and midnight the same day, and Prime One-Day, which gives unlimited one-day delivery.
